Picture This
Photography began for me like it does for many people, wanting to take cool pictures of my kids that looked better than 2011 camera phones could do. So i bought my first “real” camera, a Nikon D5100 with two kit lenses. That camera served me well for many years. Then we moved to Alaska, and I truly fell in love with photography. I feel very fortunate that the Air Force sent my wife to Alaska for 3 years, even more fortunate that she brought me with her!
It is hard to not want to photograph everything you see in Alaska. From breathtaking mountain views, to seeing Grizzlies hunt for ground squirrels, and then you add in the Aurora…there is no shortage of photo opportunities.
I try not to define myself by saying I am one type of photographer or another. I’m a photographer. I enjoy nature, landscape, adventure, sports, street, and other types of photography. I feel that by saying I’m a (fill in the blank) photographer it means I don’t enjoy taking pictures of other things. I love the challenge of putting myself in different situations and pushing myself to be better
Whatever style of shooting it is, I truly love photography.
